Thando's popular Kota place

Thando is one of the interesting people in the Community of Ponong which is in the east of Johannesburg. She is well known for her delicious food especially her kota people seem to be madly in love with it, alongside that she also sells sandwich burgers known as a dagwood with chips on the side.

She says she took initiative to start her business in 2019. Thando then went on to add by saying that her motive to sell food came from her passion for cooking as she had once attended a culinary school in the previous years, her mother then suggested that they start selling kotas and ever since then she has never looked back.

 Her business once went through a rough patch where she was mot making enough money but she did not even think of giving up. She says business is going quite well and she is happy with the profits that she has been making so far as she has been able to buy more equipment for her business like a gas stove, which will ensure that she does not have stop working in the case of load-shedding.

Karabo Mokoena a regular customer at this place said he does not see himself buying his dagwood anyone else if it’s not at Thando’s place. He said the food always tastes good and he is never disappointed. He also went on to say he is always willing to support his neighbor and feels good to know he adds value to another black owned enterprise.

Thembelihle Khuzwayo another customer said what keeps her going back to buy is the fact that she can tell that quality ingredients have been used when making the food.

Thando is also looking foward to opening other branches of her business across the east of Johannesburg in the near future. She's also seeking for funding to extend her business.
